The Institutional grants are among the instruments of the Civil Society Development Programme, CIVICA Mobilitas. The beneficiaries of the CIVICA Mobilitas Institutional Grants Programme are the civil sector non-profit organisations in Macedonia that strive to initiate changes and development by means of advocacy and comprehensive partnership and cooperation in the other sectors of society. The cross-cutting issues taken into consideration are gender equality and interethnic cooperation.
The main goal of the Institutional Grants Programme is to strengthen the capacities of the civil society sector with the aim to manage their organisations in a transparent, efficient and sustainable manner, as well as to build their professionalism with the aim to enhance their influence in the society and attain higher level of provision of services.
The Institutional Grants Programme envisages a non-restrictive financial support for the costs resulting from the annual programmes of the civil sector organisations, partially covering the direct and indirect costs of the organisation, as well as activities for building a long-term sustainability of the organisation and acquisition of specialised technical skills that shall enable better services and political dialogue.
The Annual Programme Activities of the organisation refers to the interventions aimed to achieve the objectives of the Annual Programme as well as institutional sustainability of the organisation.
The Institutional grants for the civil sector organisation or coalitions of civil sector organisation (registered as legal entity) amount up to 50 % of the total operational budget, including the operational costs and activities. The programme envisages allocation of institutional support for 10 to 15 organisations per annum. The objective and the amount of the grant is revised once a year by the Programme Board, based on the absorption capacity of the organisation that has applied and the response on the calls for application/proposals. Each grant is subjected to re-evaluation each year and decisions are reached on the extension and the percentage of institutional support.
The civil sector organisations may be awarded with more than one grant during the Institutional Grants Programme, depending on the type of the necessary interventions, however, only one grant can be awarded at a time.
This Programme instigates the civil sector organisations to establish strategic relations with various stakeholders, especially the stakeholders from the local communities, in order to obtain additional support for the implementation of the activities.
Having in mind that the decentralisation process is growing with great speed and without the necessary level of participation by the citizens whereas the ethnic distances grow larger, CIVIC Mobilitas shall focus its activities on the grants for civil society organisations, which are basically attempting to resolve these very issues.
CIVICA Mobilitas gives priority and assistance to organisations that are striving to implement the two cross-cutting issues (gender equality and interethnic relations) into their own structure, approaches and activities.
